Horned Gebes are winter-only residents here, migrating in from the interior, and from October
till early spring they are very common off the Seawalk. They are a very curious bird, and will often
come in close to shore to check out the photographer.

I wonder if that is what I saw up at the cabin rather than a Western Grebe. Mine had a similar dark head, but it seemed to have more white. - Margy
