Henderson House
The very first home built in Powell River, it was built by the Powell River Co. for Dr. Henderson,
and deeded to him as incentive to become the new town's first doctor. Construction on the
house started in 1910, right next door to, and the same time as, the first hospital. For some
time it was the only privately-owned home in the company town. It was restored as a
community heritage project for the city's centennial celebration.
An archive photo, from Fall 2011.

Dahlia
We're back, with the first photo taken in 4 weeks. This Dahlia is one of the few blooms still
to be found in the Townsite's Triangle Garden.
Summer is gone for another year.

Veteran's Memorial Park
It's officially summer when the City turns on the fountain but they must be conserving
water, it's a mere trickle compared to previous years.
A nice quite, shady spot, and rarely anyone else there to bother you.

The Hulks

| Hulk # 10 - YOGN 82 - no longer on site |
In yesterday's post I noted that one of the mill breakwater ships - YOGN 82 - was no longer on site. Here
I'm showing what a few of these 10 - now 9 - "hulks" look like in archive photos from the last time I took
snaps of these old ships from the water side, June 2014.

High Tide ...
... at the Mill breakwater. This view looks empty since the Mill moved YOGN 82, the old ship
that extended the breakwater at the mouth of the harbour.

Craft Fair
Ceramic Christmas tree ornaments at the Dwight Hall Craft Fair yesterday. These and many other items by
local artisans can still be browsed through and purchased today, but only between 10am and 3pm.

At The Hulks
If the Catalyst Mill follows through on their recent decision to sink the 4 westerly
hulks for a diving attraction, then I will be getting fewer photo opportunities like this one.

Violet-green Swallow Portrait
This portrait was taken at Powell Lake near the Shinglemill last year,
but I was there again last week and wasted some of my retirement time watching a
number of these birds cutting swathes through the air. Nice to see.

Turtle
Neither the turtle nor the flora were endangered in the making of this shot.
Found in a Townsite garden.
