At Pebble Beach Farm

At Tanglewood Farm

Tanglewood Farm is located south of town, just off Duck Lake Rd. and it's the place to be for local trail riding.

Very friendly people, and even friendlier horses! They do trail rides and lessons, and cater to small groups.

They have eight horses on site, most born and raised on the farm. Pretty animals, the one on the left kept nudging
my camera while I was trying to shoot its companion.

Rustic

I visited a friend at the cemetery on Nassichuk Rd the other day, and found this very nice old

rustic bench, one of several resting places among the resting places. I hope they have

the good sense never to "fix" it up.

The Covered Bridge

The one behind the playing field on Craig Road. To be totally honest, the few times I have been here

I have never had the time to explore where the other side of that trail goes.

Up, Down, Up, Down

There's not a lot of traffic on Verkerk Road. Just as well.

At Myrtle Point

Gathering Driftwood

BIG driftwood! South of town, on October 22.

At Hammil Lake

It's been some years since I've been here, but it hasn't changed much in the interim.

Beach Access - Patrick Road

Another of the Regional District's "Beach Access" points south of town, the end of Patrick Road.

This is just east of the beach at Donkersly Road. The shot was taken 45 minutes

after official sunrise, with the sun just clearing the trees on the point at Brew Bay, behind the camera.

At Eagle River

Eagle River, a very popular summer swimming and diving spot, though I'll be honest,
I was disinclined to get to the edge of that 35-foot waterfall on the left of the above photo.

Beach Access - Broom Road

This beach below Broom Road is #10 on the Regional Districts' map of Beach Access points.

Though as it is a mere stones-throw from the beach at Donkersly Road, I think
traffic here would be sparse.

 

 

The Flats At Brew Bay

I went to Brew Bay looking for photogenic birds, of which there were none, so I settled
for a scenic photo.

Taken at the tail-end of August, and already the leaves were starting to turn.

Nasturtiums

The floral season is winding down, unfortunately.

Beach Access - Armour Road

The Regional District has made available more than fifteen beach access points

along Highway 101 and the side roads leading from it. This is one, the beach

at the bottom of Armour Road, though even after well over 40 years

of coastal living, I still have a hard time with what passes for a

"beach" in this area.

Black Bear

Coho salmon start appearing at Lang Creek in small numbers by

the end of August, and as their numbers increase into September, Black

Bears also appear. These photos were taken at the Creek last year. With a long lens.
I was there a week ago, the bears weren't, yet.

The Coastal Cowgirls

For anyone who likes horses, the place to be this Saturday past

was the Trail Riders complex on McLeod Road. The Coastal Cowgirls

drill team was in town to do a demo. A nice event (even if a bit dusty),

 we'll show a few more photos than usual to mark it.
